Kernel

The kernel is the core component of an operating system that manages hardware resources and provides system services. It acts as a bridge between hardware and software, handling process management, memory management, file systems, and device drivers. The Linux kernel is open-source and highly customizable. Kernel security features include SELinux, seccomp, namespaces, and cgroups. Kernel vulnerabilities are particularly dangerous because the kernel has unrestricted access to all system resources.
