Backdoor

A backdoor is a method of bypassing normal authentication or encryption in a computer system, application, or hardware device. Backdoors can be intentionally placed by developers for remote access during maintenance, or maliciously inserted by attackers for persistent access. Backdoors are a significant security concern because they allow unauthorized access while evading standard security controls. Security professionals regularly scan for and remove backdoors during penetration testing and security audits.
