DDoS

A Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack overwhelms a target system with traffic from multiple compromised sources, making it unavailable to legitimate users. DDoS attacks are categorized into volumetric (flooding bandwidth), protocol (exploiting network layers), and application layer (targeting specific services) attacks. Defenses include CDN services, rate limiting, traffic scrubbing, and DDoS protection services. Organizations should have DDoS response plans and work with ISPs for mitigation.
