Insider Threat

An insider threat comes from individuals within an organization who have legitimate access to systems and data. Insiders may be malicious (deliberately causing harm), negligent (accidentally causing damage), or compromised (their credentials stolen by attackers). Insider threats are particularly dangerous because insiders already bypass perimeter security. Defenses include least-privilege access, user behavior analytics, data loss prevention, monitoring, and security awareness training.
